SUMMER: SO MANY Engineering programs
See the list of SO MANY engineering summer programs
Engineering is the use of scientific principles to design and build machines, structures, and other items, including bridges, tunnels, roads, vehicles, and buildings. The discipline of engineering encompasses a broad range of more specialized fields of engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas of applied mathematics, applied science, and types of application.
A professional engineer is competent by virtue of his/her fundamental education and training to apply the scientific method and outlook to the analysis and solution of engineering problems. He/she is able to assume personal responsibility for the development and application of engineering science and knowledge, notably in research, design, construction, manufacturing, superintending, managing and in the education of the engineer. His/her work is predominantly intellectual and varied and not of a routine mental or physical character. It requires the exercise of original thought and judgement and the ability to supervise the technical and administrative work of others. His/her education will have been such as to make him/her capable of closely and continuously following progress in his/her branch of engineering science by consulting newly published works on a worldwide basis, assimilating such information and applying it independently. He/she is thus placed in a position to make contributions to the development of engineering science or its applications. His/her education and training will have been such that he/she will have acquired a broad and general appreciation of the engineering sciences as well as thorough insight into the special features of his/her own branch. In due time he/she will be able to give authoritative technical advice and to assume responsibility for the direction of important tasks in his/her branch.

This summer marks the return of our world-renowned Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) for high school students, and for the younger children in your life curious about STEM, the always popular Jr. DEEP will be back! The Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) is designed for highly motivated high school students with an aptitude for science and math. DEEP provides students from around the world with the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering, technology, business, and science disciplines. Since its inception in 2003, DEEP has brought together over 10,000 like-minded students to explore some of the most innovative topics in engineering and science today—taught by some of our faculty’s top alumni, PhD candidates, and Master’s and undergraduate students. The program is designed to expose bright young minds to concepts usually presented in the upper years of an undergraduate degree or in graduate school.
Get a head start on exploring your options for a university degree and career. Complement your current academic studies with this unique engineering experience.
Blueprint
Blueprint is an academic enrichment program designed for highly motivated Black students interested in science and engineering. Blueprint is open to students currently in Grades 10 and 11, and are interested in careers in STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math). The program consists of four weeks of summer programming followed by a program of year-long engagement. This year, the summer program is in-person at the University of Toronto's St. George campus. This in-person program invites students to think about design and innovation—applicable to any engineering field. Students will have the opportunity to participate in fun, educational excursions and community-building events.
Global Engineering Challenge
Engage with experts in engineering, develop critical thinking skills, and create solutions to global issues. The Global Engineering Challenge aims to broaden the minds of Grade 9–12 students. This program mimics a capstone style course and is designed for highly committed and motivated students who have an interest in problem-solving. Each week, students will have the opportunity to engage with upper-year and recently graduated engineering students. Students will participate in workshops that will provide them with a deeper understanding of the challenges engineers face and be guided towards developing effective solutions. This program supports the goals of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering in preparing students with the technical and trans-disciplinary competencies necessary for them to identify, learn, and apply along with engineering practices to resolve global challenges, create new technologies and contribute to the prosperity of society. The Global Engineering Challenge is a remote, online and accessible opportunity. We are excited to present this opportunity as part of our Online Programming and hope that you will accept this challenge.
