Fee Status for Students
Based on feedback from counselors and future students, we are updating how we classify fees for UK nationals. Following Scottish Government guidelines, Scottish universities can classify students as Rest of UK (£9,250 per year) if they meet certain criteria:
UK nationals (and their family members) who lived in the EEA or Switzerland on 31 December 2020, or lived in the UK immediately after living in the EEA or Switzerland, and lived in another part of the UK before moving there. They must have lived in the EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years before the "relevant date" and be living in Scotland on that date.
UK nationals who lived in the EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years before the "relevant date" and lived there between 31 December 2020 and that date, even if they didn’t live in the UK before. They must be living in Scotland on the "relevant date."
Family members of UK nationals (non-UK nationals) who lived in the EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years before the "relevant date," whether or not they lived in the UK before. They must be living in Scotland on the "relevant date."
UK or EU nationals with the right to live under the Withdrawal Agreement, who are living in Gibraltar on the "relevant date" and have lived in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland for at least 3 years before that date.
Starting with applications for September 2025, the University of Stirling will remove the requirement that students need to be living in Scotland on the relevant date, meaning students who meet the other criteria will be classified as Rest of UK.
